To report a suspected violation, call the Sheriff's Office directly at (801) 778-6654. Community members can use this line to report offenders who may not be in compliance with their registration requirements. The Sheriff's Office takes these reports seriously and investigates discrepancies with the state's SONAR database.

Registered offenders who are no longer on probation or parole must schedule an appointment with the Weber County Sheriff's Office to complete their twice-yearly registrations. As of July 1, 2010, the Sheriff assesses a local annual supervision fee of $25 during the offender's birth month. This is separate from the state's $100 annual fee. If you live in Ogden, contact the Ogden City Police Department rather than the Sheriff for your registration appointments.

The Weber County Sheriff's compliance program includes annual verification checks. Methods used include internet searches, drive-by checks of declared residences, review of the DOC's SONAR site, and contact with parole or probation officers when applicable. Any discrepancies found are reported to the Utah Department of Corrections.

Weber Sex Offender Task Force

Weber County operates a dedicated Sex Offender Task Force that brings together multiple agencies to monitor and track sex offenders across the county. The Task Force coordinates the Weber County Sheriff's Office with other public safety agencies in the area, including Juvenile Probation, School Resource Officers, and community action groups.

The Task Force uses a coordinated approach to investigation, suppression, and prevention. It is not just about monitoring known offenders. It also works to prevent new offenses through community education and inter-agency communication. Members can reach the Task Force through the Sheriff's Office main line at (801) 778-6654.

Weber County's approach is more structured than many other Utah counties. A dedicated unit, a task force, and a local compliance fee all reflect the county's commitment to keeping registry data accurate and enforcement consistent. The policy manual for the Sheriff's Office, updated as of September 30, 2022, formalizes all of these procedures.

Note: Refusal to provide required registration information at a Weber County appointment will trigger a criminal investigation for failure to register under Utah law.

OffenderWatch in Weber County

Weber County uses OffenderWatch for community notification. Residents can sign up for free email alerts through OffenderWatch to receive notifications when a registered sex offender moves near their home, school, or other address of interest.

OffenderWatch works alongside the state registry. Data originates from law enforcement agency registration records and flows through the state system. OffenderWatch provides a faster, more user-friendly notification layer that supplements the state database. Both tools show the same underlying offender data but serve different purposes. The state registry is the official public record. OffenderWatch is the community alert platform.

You can also search Weber County offenders through NSOPW.gov, the National Sex Offender Public Website. The federal database is useful when you are checking whether someone who recently moved into Weber County from another state may be registered elsewhere but not yet fully processed in Utah.

Weber County Registration Requirements

Sex offenders in Weber County follow the same state rules that apply throughout Utah. Under Utah Code Title 53 (effective May 7, 2025, previously Title 77), offenders must register twice per year during their birth month and again six months later. The $100 annual state fee is paid during the birth month. Weber County adds a separate local supervision fee of $25, also collected during the birth month.

The Weber County Sheriff's registration intake requires detailed information. Offenders must provide all names and aliases, primary and secondary residence addresses, a full physical description, all vehicle information including make, model, color, year, plate number, and VIN, a current photograph, fingerprints and DNA specimen, all telephone numbers, internet identifiers and addresses, website registrations, passport and immigration documents if applicable, professional licenses, educational institution affiliations, employment information, volunteer positions, and their Social Security number.

Changes to any of that information must be reported within three business days. This includes moving, changing phone numbers, getting a new vehicle, changing jobs, starting school, or any new internet accounts or social media profiles. Offenders under court-imposed restrictions on where they can live must also comply with those rules on top of the standard registration requirements.

Failure to register or to report a required change is a third-degree felony in Utah for those whose registration is based on a felony conviction. Missing a scheduled appointment or failing to report a move within three business days both qualify as violations. Residents who believe an offender is out of compliance should call the Weber County Sheriff at (801) 778-6654.

Note: The public registry shows the last confirmed address on file. If an offender has recently moved and has not yet completed the three-business-day update, their listed address may not reflect their actual current location.
